Message to students;

Janine teaches high quality, methodical and practical one-hour Piano or Keyboard Music Lessons to self-motivated students who want 1) to learn to read and play traditional popular music or 2) to learn to read and play classical music in their own home.

All levels of students up to those who have completed Grade Three Piano Conservatory are welcome. I require Grade Three students to take an exam with the Royal Conservatory of Music.

All beginning students will start learning about music using the Leila Fletcher beginners' books.

All students must be willing to practice regularly: at least 15 minutes per day and five days per week.

Each Piano Favourites piano or keyboard student receives a private web page to keep track of their practicing and accomplishments. Each website has links to free computer-based material that can assist the student in learning about music.

1)Traditional Popular Music Students will learn to understand and use the capabilities that are built into their keyboard.

After learning the basics of reading music, students will learn how to play familiar songs from a Traditional Fake Book. A fake book is a music book that takes advantage of the built-in capabilities of an electronic keyboard.

2)Classical Music Students will begin to follow the Royal Conservatory of Music Piano Syllabus requirements in Grade One.

There are studies, scales, sight reading, ear training and theory to learn in addition to piano pieces.
