When and how did you make Piano Favourites Songbooks and Digital Vocal and Instrumental CD's? I want to know more!

I started creating the Piano Favourites Songbooks in December 1998.

I gathered over 40 music books and started reading the words to songs.

Songs were chosen if the words were appropriate (cheerful; related to seasons and occasions of the calendar year) and the tunes were even vaguely familiar.

Then, I checked the range of notes in the song so that the tunes would be easy to sing.

Then, the song titles were categorized and put into a database which was later divided by themes.

Finally, I created my own collection of songs that were made into Piano Favourites Songbooks and completed in August 2000.

At this point, I did not know how to sing or play all of the songs that I had chosen. I went to my music programs with seniors and asked them to teach me. I met several very talented seniors who were able to confirm that I had chosen some really good songs.

I was asked to create some Digital Vocal and Instrumental CD's in May 2004. I did not know how to do this.

It was too expensive for me to record copyrighted music and I knew that many of my Songbook songs were traditional and so I researched which songs were in the public domain. I purchased public domain music books of the chosen songs.

I taught myself how to record music on a computer and got help from other people.

Then, I recorded the music on the computer in my parents' basement.

In 2005, I took my Songbooks and CD's to a conference for Activity Professionals and met the owner of a company from whom I had purchased supplies when I was an Activity Director. I knew that I had been happy with her products. Following some required adjustments to my packaging, the CD's were ready to sell in December 2005. She offered to sell my CD's on her website and also in her 2006-2007 Concepts du Sablier catalogue which was mailed to recreation organizations across Canada and the United States.
